HARO - Help a Reporter Out™
"Over 37,000 Sources Strong and growing!"
Thanks for signing up for Help A Reporter! Please check your email for a confirmation message. Click the link in that message to activate your subscription.
If you don't get your confirmation email within a minute or so, check your SPAM folder. Sometimes, the confirmation email winds up there. This might also be a good time to add "peter@shankman.com" and "@aweber.com" to your address books, or to Outlook as "Trusted Senders" so your HARO emails don't get marked as SPAM.
I hope you find it to be useful, and hope you develop some great media contacts from it. As you probably know by now, I'm Peter Shankman, and I started this list. I won't bore you, but I figure as long as you're here, I'll give you a bit of background and info.
Here's a few quick places you might want to visit and or bookmark now...
I blog. I blog a lot. Mostly because I like talking. My main blog is at www.shankman.com. I strongly recommend taking a look. And by "strongly recommend," I mean "Hey, read my darn blog!"
I'm a really big believer that Facebook allows you to show the world a little more about you than simply a resume or a web page. As such, Facebook is a great tool (when used properly) for showing the world how great you really are. Check out my Facebook page here, and feel free to add me as a friend.
Using Twitter yet? If you're not, you will be - I'm at www.twitter.com/skydiver.
An important note: If you like this list and find it helpful, please tell some friends! This is one of those lists that work really well based on user-support. The more people who receive the feed, the better the chance of the reporter finding a source, and the better the chance of the reporter recommending it to other reporters, and the list grows, and life goes on. So tell a friend to visit www.helpareporter.com and sign up.
Remember, this site is free, and I won't SPAM you - EVER.
Finally, a bunch of you have asked what I do for a living. Well, that's kind of fun to explain.
I guess I'm a publicist. I represent clients all over the world, helping them with traditional media, as well as non-traditional media, including social media, stunts, events, and the like.
But I do a lot more, too. I started a business social networking website called AirTroductions, which was acquired and is now called TripLife. If you're traveling anywhere, I recommend it. TripLife allows you to connect with like-minded travelers wherever you're going, however you're getting there, for whatever you're doing. Try it. You might like it.
I do a lot of public speaking and training on Social Networking and "thinking differently," with the concept that we're all pretty much sheep grazing on this planet we call life - If we're able to think just a tiny bit differently about how we do things, (like, looking at things and saying "Well, why does it have to be this way just because we've always done it that way?") then we really CAN be better than 99% of the world. Email me if you want to know more, I've keynoted thousand-person conferences, and talked to Fortune 500 companies. I actually find it a ton of fun, and am always looking to do more.
Finally, I wrote a book on PR called "Can We Do That?!" all about Outrageous PR Stunts. Feel free to check it out, I think Amazon is selling it for like, eleven cents or something.
In my spare time, I run marathons, triathlons, and adventure races, I fall out of planes as a licensed skydiver, and I get bossed around by two overweight, moody, and at times incredibly stupid cats.
Anything I didn't cover here? My email is peter [at] shankman dot com. Feel free to drop me a note, or find me at a conference. All my other contact details are at www.shankman.com - So say hi, and introduce yourself!
Thanks again for joining. I hope this list proves a tremendous help for you!
All the best,
Peter Shankman
