Claim your profileAmy Beveridge is the News Director at WMTW in Portland, Maine. After attending Emerson College, Amy followed her career all around the country, from Boston, to California, to Florida, and Maryland, only to end up back in her hometown market. Amy has worked for Hearst for 20+ years, starting at WPBF as a morning producer. In late 2003, Amy then moved to Baltimore to produce mornings for three years and the 5pm for two years which earned a Best Newscast Emmy. There, she also produced an Associated Press Award winning documentary about Baltimore’s historic basilica renovation project. Amy returned home to Maine in 2008 to take on her first management role as the Assistant News Director at WMTW, being promoted to News Director in 2011. At WMTW, Amy has been at the helm of award-winning coverage with the team winning multiple Maine Association of Broadcasters Awards, and several regional Emmys and Murrows, including a National Edward R. Morrow Award for Best Newscast in 2011. Amy is on the board of the Maine Freedom of Information Coalition, which aims to broaden knowledge and awareness of the First Amendment and state laws aimed at assuring public access to government proceedings and government records. She also serves on Maine's state Right to Know Advisory Committee which is an on-going advisory council, with oversight authority and responsibility for a broad range of activities associated with the purposes and principles underlying Maine’s Freedom of Access laws. Amy also serves on the board of directors for the Maine Cancer Foundation, which is dedicated to reducing cancer incidence and mortality rates in Maine. WMTW, Channel 8 has sponsored the Tri for a Cure since its inception and has partnered with MCF on several initiatives, including Cancer 2020.
