My work has included Pulitzer Prize-winning investigations, breaking war news and analysis pieces, obituaries for many boldface names, features, books, brochures, social media posts and much more. As an editor at The New York Times, I work on content across digital and print platforms, collaborating with journalists across the newsroom and across the globe. I have long experience helping to organize, lead and optimize Times editing teams to meet the needs of our audience in an ever-changing media landscape. My long institutional memory helps The Times to be at its best, every day, on multiple platforms.I have had a rich, rewarding career so far, and I pay it forward by working with student journalists and early-career journalists. I have been a panelist and guest lecturer at my alma mater, the University of Missouri, and I occasionally meet with and mentor visiting students from its School of Journalism (established 1908). Every year, I help select the recipient of the Maneater Scholarship, awarded by the university's independent student newspaper. I've evaluated candidates for The New York Times Student Journalism Institute and have served as its managing editor, guiding the production of the students' journalism online and in a print section.Mentoring is important to me as well. I am in my fifth term as a mentor for The New York Times's Mentorship Program, an initiative that goes beyond the newsroom. I'm also an informal mentor for several newsroom colleagues and for members of my cohort of the Poynter Institute's Leadership Academy for Women in Media.I was an early reader of the manuscript for "The Daughters of Kobani" (Penguin Press, 2021), a Times best seller. Other such projects include "The Siege of Acre" (Yale University Press, 2018); "The Dog Merchants" (Pegasus Books, 2016); and the LinkedIn article series "Building Workplace Joy." As a freelancer, I edited materials for courses taught by Times staff members for The New York Times Knowledge Network, an e-learning venture.
