I am a nonbinary entrepreneur, running a community oriented giftshop in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis, MN. MoonStone MPLS. Our shop is filled with resources for self-acceptance and self-understanding (e.g., astrology, tarot), connection with nature (e.g., stones, herbs), and exploration of spiritual practices (e.g., ritual, mindfulness). Many spiritual stores are specific faith or practice based, but MoonStone aims to welcome people of all backgrounds and experience levels through its emphasis on natural history and science. We believe that there are multiple avenues to truth and wellness, and we welcome all who are willing to approach these topics with openness, curiosity, and respect for differences. In addition to gifts and resources, a core value of MoonStone is building community through sharing space. We have reserved a third of our physical space in service of this goal, and use it to host maker’s markets, community classes, resource shares, and discussion groups. We don’t charge for use of our space, and our classes are offered on suggested-donation or pay-what-you-can basis to promote accessibility. Many of our artists and instructors are starting their journeys and hosting their first event, while others are established and experienced.
