When the pandemic hit, she shifted to covering the federal response to COVID-19 and how the pandemic was impacting schools. This included offering editorial guidance to the organization, writing for digital, and producing, reporting, and hosting a long-form podcast episode about students returning back to school for the first time in the spring of 2020. In addition to her extensive reporting work at ABC News, she most recently spent several months producing for the network's signature Sunday politics show "This Week," as well as "Good Morning America."Tatum also served as a breaking news reporter for CNN Politics, where she wrote and reported spot news and in-depth coverage for CNN's digital politics site. Before joining CNN, she was a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated in December 2015 with degrees in Broadcasting and Print Journalism, minors in Political Science, Economics, and Global Security Studies, and a concentration in Arabic. Tatum reported for the Nebraska News Service, a statewide wire service covering the state legislature — where she broke the story that the Nebraska government had spent more than $50,000 on lethal injection drugs while the legislature was in the process of repealing the death penalty.
