We're working on a piece about outdoor living rooms and how designers are turning patios, decks, and covered porches into spaces people actually use for lounging and entertaining, not just a table and a grill. I'd love to hear from interior designers, landscape designers, or outdoor living specialists on any of the following: 1. Which outdoor sofas, sectionals, and lounge chairs hold up to sun and weather, and which materials (teak, powder-coated aluminum, all-weather wicker, performance fabrics) you actually recommend to clients. 2. How you anchor an outdoor seating area so it feels like a room. Outdoor rugs, pergolas, planters as walls, defining the space on an open patio or deck. The biggest mistake you see in outdoor living rooms. Cushions that mildew, furniture that's the wrong scale for the space, no shade plan, lighting that quits at sunset. 3. How you handle shade and lighting so the space works in the afternoon heat and stays usable after dark. 4. Whether the fully furnished outdoor living room is still worth it given the upkeep and seasonal storage, and who should skip it. A few sentences per question is plenty. If you have photos of outdoor living rooms you've designed, I'd love to see them. We can run a couple alongside your quote with a photo credit, so feel free to attach images or send a portfolio link. I'll include your name, title, and company with anything I use. Deadline is May 28.
