As editor of an online daily newspaper of general circulation, I write engaging, readable prose on every imaginable topic, making it accessible and relevant to the average person. I manage reporters and assign stories. My primary beat is the V.I. Legislature, where I get to cover the regular hearings and research and explain the senators' actions and legislative proposals to our readers. Hearing testimony from experts on both sides of legislation gives me a fascinating close up look at the pros and cons of different proposals. In the end, these actions have real impact on real people. I feel my talent for explaining it gives me a chance to do something worthwhile that helps regular people who do not have the time or resources to try to wade through the ocean of information, misinformation and differing viewpoints, not to mention opaque legislative prose. That I also find the process and the art of crafting legislative language incredibly interesting and fun is just icing on the cake.
