Claim your profileAs the deputy senior producer for foreign affairs and defense at the PBS NewsHour, I play a key role in helping oversee and produce the program’s foreign affairs and defense stories. This includes planning future coverage and pivoting to cover breaking news. I collaborate regularly with program managing editor and anchor Judy Woodruff, correspondents, senior producers and others. As a producer, I conceptualize and produce tape reports, as well as orchestrate in-studio interviews and discussions. My taped pieces have broken new ground on an array of military issues, exposing debates simmering outside the public eye.Over the past two decades at the NewsHour, I have booked and produced scores of exclusive interviews with foreign leaders, U.S. national security advisors, secretaries of Defense and State, senior military officers, Members of Congress, and other key government officials.I initially joined the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer in May 1996 as a reporter, responsible for producing discussion segments on Middle East, Asia, defense, terrorism and intelligence issues. The show promoted me to deputy senior producer in 2003. Before joining the NewsHour, I was a producer of America's Defense Monitor, a 30-minute weekly television series on defense and foreign policy issues, broadcast nationally on PBS and cable television.
