Claim your profileAfter 22-years of business and government news reporting, I redirected my business efforts into the education sector. Areas of expertise include California and Federal education codes, including the implementation of programs and services for at-risk students. As a previous business writer, my main areas of focus included: finance; healthcare and real estate (including understanding stock performance, proxy battles and mergers and acquisitions). An acquired law degree allowed me to venture into the expanding charter education field, where I've had the opportunity to be a part of the acclaimed Intellectual Virtues education model (http://www.npr.org/sections/ed/2014/03/17/290089998/does-teaching-kids-to-get-gritty-help-them-get-ahead). Other current work projects include the development of a new high school: Intellectual Virtues Academy - a Long Beach Public High School - including the development of the school's sports programs. The high school opened in downtown Long Beach in August, 2016.
