Dustin Reed Terry is a Gainesville, Florida-based investigative journalist, entrepreneur, and digital media founder whose work sits at the intersection of true crime, advocacy, and public accountability. After serving as an aviation mechanic in the U.S. Air Force, Terry built a career spanning cyberthreat investigation, local newspaper reporting, and mental health and addiction counseling — earning a master's degree in mental health along the way. That eclectic background gave him a rare lens through which to approach crime and justice. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of TheColdCases.com, an independent true crime journalism and advocacy publication dedicated to spotlighting unsolved murders, missing persons cases, and injustices — and amplifying the voices of victims and their families. Through in-depth articles, expert interviews, and a fast-growing podcast and newsletter, TheColdCases.com has established itself as a mission-driven platform in the true crime space. The site now draws 55,000 visitors per month, making it one of the more impactful independent cold case outlets in the country. Terry launched The Cold Cases in February 2025 to create awareness around lesser-known, unresolved cases that mainstream media tends to overlook — giving voice to families who feel no one is listening. Building on that momentum, Terry has since launched PublicCrime.com, a new destination covering crime news and public safety with a focus on transparency and community awareness. In its very first month, PublicCrime.com drew 15,000 visitors — a strong signal that audiences are hungry for credible, independent crime coverage beyond the major networks. And he's not stopping there. Terry is now preparing to launch DogPetting.com, his next venture — a pivot that shows the range of this entrepreneur's interests beyond the true crime space. Terry believes every story deserves to be told and every voice deserves to be heard — whether that story involves a decades-old unsolved murder or the everyday moments that matter to communities.
