Claim your profileFrancis Tang is a trilingual journalist based in Tokyo, currently reporting for The Japan Times — the country's oldest, most widely-read English-language newspaper. His primary beats include the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Justice and Immigration Services Agency, with additional coverage of Japan’s domestic politics, foreign relations and businesses. Prior to joining The Japan Times, Francis interned at Reuters Tokyo Bureau through the Overseas Press Club Foundation fellowship. He was honored with the Overseas Press Club Foundation Scholar Award and the David R. Schweisberg Memorial Scholarship in 2023, becoming the third Syracuse University student recipient and the first since 1999. Francis graduated from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in 2023. He holds a B.A. in Political Science with a Japanese Studies minor.
