I’m a Correspondent for Kyodo News America at Economic News section in New York, covering Tech and Finance, Media industry. I was born in Fukuoka Prefecture in western Japan and spent my college years in Tokyo. I majored in European history at Waseda University and wrote my thesis on the economic reconstruction of Germany and Japan after World War II, earning a B.A. degree. From the time I graduated from university to the present, I have worked for Kyodo News, a news agency that distributes news to newspapers and TV stations, for 18 years. During my first eight years at Kyodo News, I wrote articles on incidents and accidents that occurred in the region, elections, and issues related to the realignment of U.S. forces and the construction of nuclear power plants in Japan. In Aichi Prefecture, I covered the Toyota Motor Corporation Group. After becoming a reporter specializing in economics at the Tokyo headquarters, I covered banking, securities, insurance, BOJ’s monetary policy, financial administration, and the telecommunications and Tech industries.
