Thirty years as a technology journalist, helped launch a music website in 1999, then helped run a music management/publishing firm specializing in independent artists. As a freelance writer, have written for for publications including Audio, Business Week, FHM, Genre, Maxim, Men's Journal, Playboy, Popular Science, Rolling Stone, and Sound & Vision, among others. Currently Senior Editor at Consumer Reports magazine, responsible for audio and video coverage, streaming platforms and services, and issues such as internet/broadband equity and the digital divide.
