Claim your profileI am the deputy editor of 1843, The Economist's award-winning magazine of storytelling, culture and lifestyle. I look after the ideation, commissioning and editing of long-form features, including investigations, profiles, reportage and essays. I also commission and edit across our lifestyle verticals (fashion, design, food, travel and luxury) and developed the magazine's digital strategy.My first book, "How to Ruin a Queen: Marie-Antoinette, the Stolen Diamonds and the Scandal that Shook the French Throne" was published in the UK by John Murray and the USA by Da Capo. It won the Somerset Maugham Award, the UK's most prestigious prize for young writers and the Royal Society of Literature/Jerwood Award. I have also written for numerous publications including the Wall Street Journal, the Sunday Times and the London Review of Books. I have also undertaken freelance brand consultancy and cultural strategy in conjunction with Flamingo and the Office of Ideologies for companies and organisations such as the BBC, Diageo and Unilever
