Claim your profileIn 2024, I won the Aerospace Reporter of the Year award from the Aerospace Media Awards. I write about aviation for FlightGlobal, a journal that has been publishing for more than 100 years. I write about airlines and aircraft manufacturers, about aviation business trends and about evolving technology. Earlier, I wrote about business for the Portland Press Herald – one of Maine's top newspapers. I also covered finance for another century-old publication called The Bond Buyer. Additionally, in the early 2000s I worked in marketing at Independence Air, a start-up airline based in Dulles, Virginia. When not writing, I may be on the water in a boat. I like saltwater fishing, and years ago I skippered a tour boat and a charter fishing boat on Cape Cod. I still hold a U.S. Coast Guard captain's license, capped at 50 tons. I earned a bachelor's degree in history from Gettysburg College in 2000, and a master's degree in journalism from Georgetown University in 2009. I have worked for newspapers, magazines and digital news websites; I've covered topics ranging from commercial fishing to commercial aviation, from heart disease to financial regulations, from Washington politics to lighthouses in Maine. I value thorough reporting, accuracy, balance and direct, clear writing. I try to tell all sides.
