Claim your profileI'm the senior personal finance editor at CNBC, where I cover money management, financial planning and consumer spending. I’m also a Certified Financial Planner professional. Only a handful of working journalists have earned this credential, and I was one of the first to do so. In my time at CNBC, I have also held the roles of deputy personal finance editor; senior editor at Grow, which was part of CNBC’s partnership with Acorns; and personal finance reporter. Prior to joining CNBC, I was the senior consumer reporter for MarketWatch and SmartMoney. My work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, SmartMoney, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Good Housekeeping, Real Simple and Family Circle, among other publications. I've also been interviewed on NBC’s TODAY and Nightly News, CBS’ This Morning, ABC’s Nightline, Fox News’ Fox & Friends, NPR’s Morning Edition and many CNBC shows including Squawk Box, Power Lunch, Street Signs and Closing Bell. Outside the newsroom, I serve on the board of governors for the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW), where I currently hold the role of secretary/treasurer. I hold a master’s degree in personal financial planning from Kansas State University, and graduated with honors from Ithaca College with a bachelor’s in journalism and anthropology.
