I'm working on a story for the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) examining how upcoming Medicaid eligibility changes—including work requirements and more frequent eligibility reviews—could affect emergency departments, physician groups, and patient access to care, particularly in rural communities. I'm seeking to interview a rural emergency physician leader, medical director, practice owner, or emergency medicine group leader who can discuss: - The role Medicaid plays in their patient population - How potential Medicaid coverage losses could affect patients' access to emergency care - The impact of uncompensated care on emergency medicine practices - Financial and staffing challenges facing rural emergency departments - Concerns about the long-term viability of emergency services in rural communities - What these policy changes may mean for emergency physicians over the next several years I'm especially interested in hearing from physicians practicing in rural or underserved areas, including states that have not expanded Medicaid. Interviews would take approximately 30-40 minutes by phone and are intended to provide real-world perspective on how policy changes may affect emergency care delivery on the ground.
