Chronicler of India's transformation into a market economy, a far cry from its command and control past. Kicked off my career in Bangalore, just when Infosys was taking baby steps into the world of outsourcing and Bangalored was not a verb. Working in Bangalore, Kolkata and now Mumbai only helped me understand better how India's economic transformation has actually played out over the last two and a half decades. I am very passionate about all things business -- be it equity markets, transformation of Indian businesses and economic trends that cut across geographical boundaries. JANUARY 2011 TO PRESENT: Employed with the Business Standard newspaper as Associate Editor. MAY 2004 TO DECEMBER 2010: Worked with India Today magazine, South Asia’s largest circulated general news magazine, as Deputy Editor, and was responsible for coverage of news (business, politics, society and entertainment) from western India. Was part of key team that launched several lifestyle supplements like Simply Mumbai (a city magazine), India Today Woman (a working women’s magazine) and India Today Spice (a luxury magazine).1996 to 2004: Worked in the Mumbai edition of The Economic Times as a feature writer (Special Correspondent) for the newspaper and news supplements (Corporate Dossier and Brand Equity). During this period, my responsibility was to write on global trends in management and analyse how Indian companies were transforming in liberal India. Also, closely tracked global personalities and the Indian diaspora and profiled personalities like Enron’s whistle blower Sherron Watkins, General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt, the first Indian to become dean of Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University Dipak Jain, management guru C.K. Prahalad, and the present Dean of Harvard Business School Nitin Nohria.
