Surveys in the U.S., UK, and Canada indicate much less interest in younger members (Gen Z, especially) of the workforce in advancing to management/leadership roles. Seems they very specifically want to avoid managing people. Reasons cited include losing work-life balance, added time, added stress, etc. I'm looking for leaders, "rank-and-file" employees (if you'll forgive the expression), and workplace consultants to offer insights into why this is, and to help readers understand what it is these people DO want, if not the traditional large salary and benefits package that often accompany traditional career advancement. Also, what could change culturally that might result in more Gen Zers changing their mind and pursuing leadership roles in their places of work? What caused this shift in the first place? When did being "the boss" become so unappealing to so many?
