Claim your profileFor the past 11 years, I have managed teams in France 24 Arabic newsroom, and been responsible for the output of the channel during my shift. These responsibilities include deciding the headlines of the day’s bulletins, assigning vts to journalists and checking their packages, and communicating with correspondents in different areas in the world. Since at France 24 all 3 channels (Arabic, French and Arabic) operate in the same workplace, we are exposed to a wide variety of journalists from multiple nationalities, an enriching experience to all of us in exchanging views and opinions on current affairs. Before France 24, I had been with Al Jazeera for 12 years as a roving correspondent. As I was based in Lebanon from 1996 till 2005, I have done extensive field reporting from Beirut, Southern Lebanon and other parts of Lebanon that needed field coverage including the Israeli withdrawals from Southern Lebanon and various Hizbollah/ Israeli confrontations.I was sent to Afghanistan in December 2001 to cover the aftermaths of the war in Kabul when the forces of the Northern Alliance and the US lead multinational forces entered Kabul. Following the war in Afghanistan, I went to Iraq, for the first time in April 2003, then several times till the Iraqi government shut down Al Jazeera’s office in Bagdad. In 2005, I was transferred to Al Jazeera Bureau in Washington DC, where I covered Pentagon, the State Department, as well as Guantanamo’s Military trials in Guantanamo Bay.As a roving Correspondent, I was sent to South Korea to follow up on the North Korean missile crisis form South Korea. I also covered the Ethiopian/Somalia war from both Somalia and Ethiopia in 2006/2007. I also reported from the USS John Stennis carrier doing feature stories on the ship, its mission, and the life on it. I worked in South Africa in 2007/2008 covering the ANC general elections when current President Zuma was elected head of the ANC, along with a series of reports on the Blacks/Whites coexistence after more than a decade of the end of apartheid.Being trilingual, I fluently speak read and write English, French and Arabic (with a working knowledge of Spanish) and having had all this experience in the field, I feel I should invest my multicultural knowledge in world renowned organizations.
