Published 4x a year, the 48 page Practical Farm Ideas feature leading edge innovations developed by farmers and hands-on engineers - ideas which are used as inspiration for farmer-readers. The magazine was first to explain grassland aeration, in 1992. In 1999, it described an on-farm bio-gas plant in a feature titled 'Farm of the Future'. Min-till drills and techniques have been covered for 20 years. Livestock developments like sexed semen (1993), robotic milking, mobile sheep and cattle handling have all been featured long before they became main stream, providing readers with a glimpse of the future, and the chance to be prepared for technological developments. In 2013 the subtitle Soil + Cover Cropping International was added to the mast-head to reflect the importance of these dedicated pages to the improvement of soil condition.
