When I was a kid, I would walk into the living room and almost instantly walk out when I saw my mother was watching the news. It was boring and no one ever looked like me; so, why would I care? Fast forward several decades - And now I'm in front of the camera. But what you see on your screen is only a small portion of what I do. My job isn't to report the news, it's to reveal it. My job is to lay out the facts and let you make the decision. My job is to give people a voice. My job is to push for transparency and accountability. I love the broadcast and digital Media industry. This year, marks 20 yrs working in the news industry. As a National News Correspondent I work in the field, not behind a desk. I battle through dangerous, high stress and anxiety driven situations on a weekly basis. I help connect people in ways they would have never known or imagined. I grew up in South Texas, along the border and specialize in immigration coverage. But that's not all I do. I chase tornadoes and respond to mass shootings; every day I'm asked to be an expert on a new topic - And it's exhilarating. I welcome the challenge. As a journalist, I work diligently to build relationships and keep them. Some of my closest contacts have been with me for 20 yrs!
