I tell stories that are bold, absorbing, and true. My career in radio, print, and magazine journalism has taken me from a Minutemen meeting in rural Colorado to the site of an Israeli bombing in the Gaza Strip to the headquarters of a Muslim feminist group in Paris and far beyond. Reporting on some of the thorniest issues of our time — including abortion, immigration, and the Israeli-Palestinian impasse — I strive to understand my subjects as people and not symbols. I believe that great journalism requires a balance of humility and audacity and as an editor and writing coach, I help other journalists produce unforgettable, impactful work.
