As the Assignment Manager at Spectrum News NY1, I oversee the Assignment Desk operations for a 24-hour news channel in New York City. I have more than eight years of experience in this role, leading a team of Assignment Editors, Planning Editors and Photographers, and ensuring cohesiveness among management, production, and editorial staff. My core competencies include identifying and directing coverage of top stories for our viewing audience, making unilateral decisions on news coverage during high stress and breaking news situations, and delegating and supporting assignments to Assignment Desk staff. I also recruit, hire, and supervise my team, and collaborate with managers, producers, reporters, and web staff in daily editorial meetings. My mission is to deliver accurate, timely, and impactful news stories that inform and engage our community.
