I relate to Oprah Winfrey because just as she was discovered after winning 'Miss Fire Prevention Tennessee', I was discovered by a local station in Surabaya, Indonesia at a local tourism pageant. What started as an accident turned into a life-long passion. I'm still a writer and storyteller at heart, but my medium is now the newscast..My career has since taken me from Surabaya to national network television in the vibrant and challenging media environment of Jakarta, before stints in Atlanta (Georgia, USA), London (UK) and now Washington, DC. Highlights would include covering the tumultuous democratic transition in Indonesia from 1998 to 1999, my brief stint at CNN and covering several US elections cycles from 2006 to 2024 for VOA.
