Claim your profileI’m Orion, an award-winning journalist at The 19th News. I primarily cover health policy, the courts, and LGBTQ+ daily life as it becomes increasingly politicized. My reporting has won an Excellence in HIV/AIDS Coverage Award from the Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists and a national Edward R. Murrow Award as part of my newsroom’s four-part series on pregnancy in post-Roe America. My work has also been twice nominated for GLAAD's Outstanding Online Journalism Award. I have served as a judge for the American Mosaic Journalism Prize and spoken at various events, including the Reva & David Logan Symposium on Investigative Reporting, the Investigative Reporters and Editors' conference, and the Association of Health Care Journalists conference. I often join classrooms to discuss my work, and in 2022, I mentored students at the Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists conference. My work has appeared in CBS News, NPR's "All Things Considered," PBS NewsHour, USA Today, and Teen Vogue, among other outlets. In Washington, D.C., I have reported on LGBTQ+ issues from the White House, the State Department, the Education Department, the Supreme Court, and Capitol Hill. I previously covered breaking news at Axios and contributed research to "Axios on HBO."
