London based journalist and foreign affairs commentator
A London based award-winning journalist, political commentator and consultant on MENA Region Politics and Intercultural affairs based in the UK. After 16 years working as Diplomatic Correspondent for Al Ahram Hebdo, the French-language weekly edition of the biggest Egyptian media group, based in Cairo and a brief spell as Correspondent to the UN in New York, moved to London in January 2011, to focus on in-depth analysis of issues related to the future of the MENA region. Active campaigner for greater interfaith understanding and religious tolerance, having been invited to speak on high-level panels and forums such as the UN Alliance of Civilizations. Has published articles/papers on the Middle East and the Mediterranean on scholarly publications such as Dialogo Mediterraneo, ManhattanMed, Quaderns of the Mediterranean and Afkar/Ideas, as well as on books published by UNESCO For 5 years she worked in EU groups dedicated to promote the role of the media in the European Neighborhood. On January 2009 was awarded with the Mediterranean Journalism Prize. - Born in Egypt, she was raised in Brazil, before completing her studies in France and Switzerland. She has also lived in Iran (two years), Lebanon (18 months) and Burundi (three and half years).
