Claim your profileI'm a passionate public radio veteran and since 2019 I have managed the newsroom of Boise State Public Radio. During my time as news director, I have added two reporters, a digital coordinator and trained interns. Along with many regional awards, last year our newsroom won a national Murrow Award. I’ve done this while increasing our digital footprint through podcasts, social media and newsletters. I have nurtured a collaborative newsroom that partners regularly with stations in the region to increase our coverage. My passion for in-depth storytelling was first honed at U.C. Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, where I earned a masters in documentary film and learned the art of storytelling from top documentarians. I cut my teeth editing on “Day to Day,” and was show editor of “News and Notes.” I was the overnight producer for Renee Montagne when she was the West Coast host for “Morning Edition.” Beyond knowing how to whittle out the non-essentials on a news spot, I can nimbly construct a compelling long-form feature, while encouraging the voice and creativity of the reporter. In 2020, I was chosen for the the Editorial Integrity and Leadership Initiative and learned invaluable lessons on managing, which I use in my work every day. I'd like to continue expanding my collaborative skills as I move through the next steps of my career.
