Our names are Shawna and LaLa, and we co-host the podcast Life Beyond The Mic. This Mother’s Day, we are working on something that is incredibly close to our hearts. We are curating 60 gift bags for moms with babies in the NICU at Westchester Medical Center. These bags will be given to mothers who are spending Mother’s Day beside incubators and hospital beds instead of celebrating at home with their families. For Shawna, this initiative is deeply personal. She was born extremely premature at 23 weeks, weighing just 1 pound 4.5 ounces, and spent the first four months of her life in the NICU. At the time, doctors did not believe she would survive. Because of the incredible care she received, she was given a chance at life. Now, we want to give back to families walking that same difficult road. We are inviting baby brands, mom brands, and wellness companies to help us fill these gift bags with items that can bring comfort to NICU moms during long days at the hospital. Items that would be especially meaningful include: • Self-care products for moms • Baby essentials • Skincare or wellness items • Comfort items for hospital stays • Snacks or small encouragement gifts We are also incredibly grateful for contributions such as: • Gas gift cards to help families travel to and from the hospital • Meal gift cards for parents spending long days at the NICU • Hotel stays or discounts for families traveling from out of town Products would need to arrive by April 29th in order to prepare the gift bags for delivery on May 4th. All participating brands will be acknowledged across our social media, podcast, and website as we highlight the companies who helped make this Mother’s Day initiative possible.
