Gardening Writer, Nonprofit Sustainable Community Agriculture Leader
Siobhan Shaw is a gardening writer, farmer, community agriculture advocate, food security nonprofit founder, and contributor to Homes & Gardens. Through her nonprofit, Growing to Give, her work will expand in 2026 to include a deeper focus on nutrition, garden resilience, and access to nourishing food during and after cancer treatment. She is the creator of Cancer Bites, a podcast and community dedicated to bringing comfort, connection, and joy to those experiencing cancer. Through her work with community farms and collective growing projects, Siobhan (pronounced Shavonne) has helped design and steward agricultural systems built to withstand extreme heat and drought. She works closely with Crop Circle Farms, whose innovative growing systems have informed many of the climate-resilient strategies she uses in the field. She is among a very small group with hands-on, working knowledge of these systems. Her nonprofit work centers on growing food where it’s needed most, with a focus on climate-adapted design, food security, and community impact. Currently living with metastatic breast cancer, Siobhan’s legacy is rooted in leaving people and communities with the knowledge to grow better, eat better, and pass that wisdom on to future generations.
