Hearts 4 Minds is a Jacksonville-based nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting people to vital mental health resources while breaking down stigma through community education and awareness. Founded by Sheryl Johnson after losing her son Alex to suicide in 2017, our mission is simple: no family should lose a loved one because they didn't know where to turn for help. About "Stories from the Heart": Our "Stories from the Heart" blog series features personal mental health journeys shared by community members who want to help others feel less alone. These powerful narratives highlight the human side of mental health challenges while demonstrating that recovery, resilience, and hope are possible. Past stories have included topics ranging from using comedy to cope with depression, to managing mental health during physical injuries, to finding strength as a caregiver. What We're Looking For: We're seeking individuals willing to share their mental health experiences - whether that's their own journey, supporting a loved one, or overcoming specific challenges. Stories can cover any aspect of mental health including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma recovery, finding the right therapist, medication journeys, or breakthrough moments. Our Process: We've made sharing your story as simple as possible. Interested participants complete a brief questionnaire where they can choose which questions to answer based on their comfort level. Our professional writer then crafts their responses into a compelling blog post, which they review and approve before publication. Participants can also share relevant photos if they wish. Impact: These stories directly support our mission of reducing mental health stigma and showing others that help is available. We're looking for authentic voices from all backgrounds and experiences. Your story could be the one that helps someone realize they're not alone or encourages them to seek the support they need.
