In the studio... he is primary news anchor for TMJ4 News, anchoring daily newscasts at 4, 5 and 6 p.m. In the field... Steve leads the way on special projects reporting. His investigations win awards, drive ratings, and push positive change in the community. Steve has received some of the industry's highest honors including a National Headliner Award for investigative reporting. He was a finalist for the Batten Medal and Investigative Reporters and Editors award, winner of ten regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, 11 Emmy Awards, and numerous awards from state broadcasters associations and city press clubs. Steve's work has been featured on the CBS Evening News, 60 Minutes, and Court TV. It has resulted in new state laws, criminal prosecutions, and the resignations of powerful public servants. In 2008, Steve exposed a Wal-Mart corporate policy that required hundreds of tons of safe and edible food to be thrown out each year. After months of his reporting, Wal-Mart changed its policy and now sends that food to charitable organizations in need. His Emmy-award winning series "Captive Victims" uncovered the rampant problem of staff-on-inmate sexual assault at the Illinois Department of Corrections. In 2007, Illinois implemented procedures to ensure these crimes were accurately reported to the public. In 2004, Steve received national acclaim for a ground-breaking series that exposed law enforcement's inability to combat internet predators -- adults who try to sexually assault minors after seducing them in Internet chat rooms. After his reports, Kansas City became home to a regional computer forensic crime lab and numerous on-line policing efforts. Steve graduated from Milwaukee's Marquette University.
