I consume as much news as possible and I just can’t help it. Going into my first year of college I always thought I would be a sports reporter but once I got the taste of news during our school newscasts, I never looked back. I’ve always wanted to be a storyteller and touch people with an emotion. Whether that be by a tear or a smile— I knew I could do that as a journalist. There’s no other place I rather be than in a position to tell stories and touch lives. In college I interned in the sports department at WSIL in Carterville, IL. After months, I turned the opportunity into a job as an Associate Producer. I operated cameras, shot and edited videos, etc. I gained the tools I needed to truly grasp the workflow of a newsroom. Additionally, I shot and edited sports highlights every Friday and even turned a few news stories I reported for air. I admired so many people on air and couldn’t wait to step into my own position. In 2016, I landed a job as an MMJ at WTVA in Tupelo, Mississippi. A year later I became an Anchor/MMJ. In April of 2018, I started as an MMJ at WREG in Memphis, Tennessee. By October, I often filled in to anchor night newscasts and eventually the morning news. I was the stations first Breaking News Anchor/Reporter. As a reporter, I created weekly content for my weekly franchise called Bright Spot, highlighting positive news in Mid-south communities.
