I am the fundraising assistant for the Western Piedmont Foundation, the fundraising organization for Western Piedmont Community College. This position includes:* Writing press releases on foundation news* Assisting with writing and editing grants* Filming and producing video coverage* Creating and managing social media content* Designing print content, such as flyers and graphics* Helping to develop scholarship documentation* Communicating with donors and stakeholders through a variety of channelsIn addition, I still write freelance articles for The News Herald in Morganton, North Carolina, where I worked as a staff writer/multi-media journalist for seven years before experiencing a layoff. During my time as a staff writer, I received four awards from the North Carolina Press Association and a publication award from the North Carolina Society of Historians for my work. I also blog about creative entrepreneurship on my website and post a cooking blog on Instagram. I have been a member of the Morganton Writers' Group since 2013.I am working toward becoming a full-stack digital content creator, combining the skills of writing, photography, videography and graphic design to communicate messages that matter with lasting impact.
