SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA, November 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) will release the first 2026 Census results in June 2027, and Censible will publish them for every Australian suburb on release day. Before the release, Censible has opened free suburb profiles on 2021 Census data at censible.com.au. Its first Censible Index list shows that Mickleham, in Melbourne's north, was Australia's fastest-growing suburb from 2016 to 2021. Its population grew 455.4%, from 3,142 to 17,452 people. In Sydney, Edmondson Park in the south-west led the list, growing 431.9%, from 2,271 to 12,080 people.— Censible spokesperson
Census night was Tuesday 11 August 2026. The ABS will publish the 2026 Census results in three stages:
- First release, June 2027: most Census topics, including age, household and family, country of birth, language, income, schooling, health and housing, plus the new questions on gender and sexual orientation.
- Second release, October 2027: qualifications, employment, occupation, industry, place of work and travel to work.
- Third release, early to mid-2028: SEIFA, distance to work, homelessness estimates and the longitudinal dataset.
Censible will update its suburb profiles with 2026 data on each release day. Users can compare each suburb's 2026 results with 2021, 2016 and 2011, on the same boundaries. They can also ask questions of the data in plain English, for example "Which suburbs in Western Sydney had the largest increase in renters?"
Censible is an AI-native census data platform. It gives free access to census data by suburb, with paid plans for reports, comparisons and projections. Technology companies and AI products can access the same data through the Censible API and MCP server.
“Every five years, Australia gets the most detailed picture of who we are and where we live,” said a Censible spokesperson. “Most people never see it, because the data is hard to find and harder to read. The first 2026 Census results arrive in June 2027. On release day, Censible will publish them for every Australian suburb, so anyone can look up their area in seconds.”
Censible Index: Australia's fastest-growing suburbs, 2016 to 2021
1. Mickleham, VIC: 455.4%
2. Edmondson Park, NSW: 431.9%
3. Clyde, VIC: 388.1%
4. Denham Court, NSW: 379.2%
5. Mount Duneed, VIC: 290.6%
The list ranks suburbs with at least 1,000 people in 2016 by population growth between the 2016 and 2021 Census, using ABS data. The full ranking of Australia's fastest-growing suburbs, with state lists and methodology, is on the Censible website.
Censible projects Mickleham's population at about 30,400 people in 2026, and Edmondson Park's at about 19,100. These are Censible projections, not Census results. The 2026 Census will show how close they are.
The 2021 Census counted 25,422,788 people in Australia, an increase of 8.6% from 2016. The 2026 Census will show how that picture has changed over the past five years.
Journalists: Censible will provide release-day data for any suburb, council area or region on request, including 2021 to 2026 comparisons.
