Claim your profileAn experienced and tenacious multi-platform journalist, working across video, radio, print and online media. Currently based in Canberra, Australia, after a long stint in India, I work across Asia reporting for a number of media outlets across the globe, including Monocle, the New York Times, the Wall St Journal, Time, Al Jazeera and The Australian.I have also worked as an investigative journalist: I was a producer on a story that appeared in June 2015 on the ABC's flagship television program Foreign Correspondent looking into Australian-Indian surrogacy and adoption issues. I have a proven track record in breaking stories and gaining interviews with sometimes reclusive or reluctant interviewees. An example is Benazir Bhutto, who I spent many months persuading until finally interviewing her in 2006 on the ABC's Australia Network channel. I have also interviewed New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Bhutan's Prime Minister Tsering Tobgay, the political leader of the Central Tibetan Administration, Lobsang Sangay, and former Indian chief economic advisor Kaushik Basu.I have broken a number of stories, such as that of Sri Lankan refugees lost at sea (Time.com), the gang-rape of an Australian woman during an Indian riot (Fairfax publications) and racist attacks on a Jewish synagogue in Canberra (New York Times).Separately, I have worked as a producer on another ABC flagship program, Q&A when it filmed an episode in New Delhi in October 2013.I have been employed as a consultant to international research and creative agencies, providing targeted information on specific elements of the Indian market, including by Monocle's partner creative agency, Winkreative.I have also worked on projects for global humanitarian agencies Unicef and the International Planned Parenthood Foundation (IPPF). These involved providing communication materials on projects in rural central India and rural Fiji.aartibetigeri.com
