Claim your profileI'm a reporter and editor with a wide range of experience across nearly three decades of journalism. In 2017 I launched The Frisc, a nonprofit independent news site that covers housing, homelessness, and other major civic issues and rapid changes shaking up my hometown, San Francisco. Previously, I covered biotech and the life sciences for 15 years, writing about emerging biomedical science, as well as the business and policy of bringing treatments to patients. Before that, I wrote about high-tech during the first dot-com boom with CNET News and the Industry Standard. I also co-founded the high-tech satire magazine In Formation. In addition to high-tech and life sciences, I've written on subjects ranging from baseball surgeries to green buildings, from environmental nanotech to urban chickens, for publications including Wired, ReadyMade, Popular Science, Architecture, SF Weekly, the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Chow, and Business 2.0.I live in San Francisco with my wife and daughters.
