Claim your profileI am a journalist and team leader with versatile experience covering breaking news and in-depth features — and a track record of producing impactful and award-winning stories. In my current role as an economy reporter at Business Insider, I cover social safety nets, highlighting how aid programs serve low-income Americans and where policy may fall short. I write about healthcare access, food insecurity, retirement, natural disaster response, and poverty solutions. My coverage has been highlighted on SiriusXM Business Radio, Fox 5 DC, WGN Chicago, The Daily Show with Gordon Deal, Ticker News Australia, and other radio and podcasts. Before BI, I worked on the breaking news team at The Dallas Morning News, one of the largest and most reputable newsrooms in Texas. My dynamic reporting looked at courts, healthcare, and gun violence in Dallas-Fort Worth for DMN digital and print platforms, using social media, SEO, and multimedia tools to reach and engage diverse audiences. I also reported on high-profile cases like the Zurawski v. State of Texas abortion ban case, earning A1 story placement and NBC 5 guest appearance. As managing editor of The Daily Tar Heel, I led the coverage of higher education, COVID-19, North Carolina politics and more for a staff of over 200 editors and reporters. I was also an editor for The Trace and The Miami Herald's “Since Parkland” project, documenting the lives of over 1,200 children and teenagers killed by American gun violence. My freelance work has been featured in The San Francisco Chronicle, Global Student Square, and local Denver newspapers. I am an alum of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I studied journalism, English, and public policy.
