I am an experienced digital production specialist at the Manchester Evening News, with experience at Reach PLC titles around the UK. Currently, I produce video content for the MEN on the website and on social media platforms, across news, sport and what’s on strands. I use analytics and stats to inform decision making as to what videos to produce and which platforms to produce videos for. I also use monetisation tools to produce content that can have ads against it on social platforms, and can be an extra source of revenue for the title. I can film, edit and produce my own content, and as part of my job, I would consider myself an advanced user of Adobe Premiere and After Effects, as well as many other Adobe suite packages. Previously, I have almost six years experience of digital production and editing on the busy Newsdesk, as part of the MEN’s web production team. I ran the website and homepage in the evenings as the mobile editor, and helped to transform evenings into the busiest part of the day on the website, mobile site and app. I have live news experience, and as part of the MEN’s digital production team, was part of the team that broke and worked on some of the biggest stories in recent years, producing content with a very fast turnaround time to serve the readers with accurate information as quickly as possible. I have data journalism skills, and am adept at mapping using data and mapping to tell stories. I can turn my hand to many online tools to enhance storytelling, and am proficient at Adobe Photoshop for graphic production. I have experience as a newsroom trainer of Reach PLC’s web CMS tools, and was part of the rollout team for the former Local World network after Trinity Mirror acquired them. I am a trained data journalist, skilled photographer and videographer, video and audio editor, writer and broadcaster. I have strong social media management skills, SEO, and analytic skills.
