Claim your profileAt BBC Audio, my current role as Editor (Arts and Music) means I look after high profile brands that have been part of moves under the Across The UK strategy. These include everything from Front Row and Loose Ends to Jazz Record Requests and Radio 1 Dance. I also developed and launched the new format Take Four Books for Radio Four. I line manage a large team of talented producers across all genres of music, books, arts and entertainment and work with high profile presenters including Kirsty Wark, Kate Molleson, Clive Anderson, James Crawford, Nihal Arthanayake, Stuart Maconie and more. After several years of managing editorial teams at BBC Scotland and Question Time’s digital team, this role is a chance to use existing skills at a larger scale. Our team's dedication to quality content for BBC Radio 3 and Radio 4 reflects a commitment to the highest journalism standards, creativity, and audience engagement. Previously, as Assistant Editor for TV News, my focus on fostering collaboration and representing audiences brought many new voices to the BBC. I line manage a multidisciplinary team of ten as well as high profile freelancers. This is all underpinned by qualifications in Scottish Literature and Film and TV studies (undergraduate, Glasgow) Journalism (post graduate, Strathclyde) and Teaching and Learning (post graduate, UWS). The latter makes me passionate about treating people well, having learned how much the culture we set affects the work we do and how poor conditions kill the potential for creative excellence. As a Fellow of Advance HE, a member of the Journalism board of the BJTC, and an SLTA for both Nations board and SEG at the BBC I am deeply committed to promoting a positive culture of excellence as the BBC heads in to its second century of informing, educating, and entertaining.
