Claim your profileAnnika Hammerschlag is a French and English speaking reporter, photographer, videographer and drone pilot who has covered West Africa from Dakar, Senegal since 2019. Her work has been published by The Associated Press, The New York Times, The Economist, Bloomberg, BBC and The Guardian. Her reporting focuses on critical environmental issues including marine conservation, deforestation and climate migration. She is represented by Redux Pictures.Prior to moving to Senegal, Annika was a staff reporter for the Naples Daily News/USA Today Network where she covered the politically charged education beat through fact-based, meticulous reporting and led multiple investigations using public records and data analysis. She holds a master’s degree from Columbia Journalism School, where she was awarded honors in reporting, and a bachelor’s from UCLA. She received an Overseas Press Club Scholar award in 2016 for her work in India.
