Claim your profileAriel Zambelich is a photojournalist and the Visuals Director at the Baltimore Banner, a local nonprofit news organization where she collaborates to tell stories through photojournalism, illustration, and design. She is also a board member for the Authority Collective, a group that works to empower marginalized artists and takes action against systemic and individual abuses in the world of lens-based editorial, documentary and commercial visual work.She spent 3 years as an organizer, including a year on the Organizing Committee, for the Freelance Solidarity Project, a union for freelance media workers, and was a member of the 2019 Cohort of ONA's Women's Leadership Accelerator in 2019. She is also a general member of Diversify.Photo, an organization that amplifies the voices of photographers of color.In addition to her editing and organizing work, Ariel is a freelance photographer whose images have appeared in the New York Times, New York Times Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek, California Sunday Magazine, The Atlantic, Etiqueta Negra, M le magazine du Monde, the Washington Post, and The FADER. She has juried competitions and grants for The FENCE, Getty Images, and Women Photograph. Her work has been recognized by The National Press Photographers Association, The Society for News Design, The Peabody Awards, and The Magenta Foundation. She is an alumnus of the Eddie Adams Workshop and the Kalish Photo Editing Workshop.
