Claim your profileHello! I am a reporter with the rural health team at KFF Health News, a national, nonprofit media outlet focused on in-depth healthcare reporting. It's important for everyday people and those in power to learn about innovations and success stories in rural health care as well as the challenges, gaps, and wrongdoings. I report across the country, but especially in South Dakota, surrounding states, and tribal nations. I enjoy telling rural health stories that haven't received much media attention or taking a well-known health issue but looking at it from a rural angle. My articles have been co-published with The Washington Post, NBC, CBS, NPR, The Atlantic, High Country News, and States Newsroom outlets. They've also been republished and cited in many local publications and in newsletters from journalism and health-related organizations. I previously worked at South Dakota Public Broadcasting where I produced several stories for NPR. Before that, I was the criminal justice reporter at the Rapid City Journal. The Associated Press republished multiple stories from my time at SDPB and the Journal. I began my journalism career as a general assignment reporter at the Nogales International in Arizona where I could walk to Mexico from my house near the border. I live in Rapid City, South Dakota where I love listening to podcasts, spending time with my cat Sully, and riding my gravel and mountain bikes in the beautiful Black Hills.
