For a popular Bay Area lifestyle site with more than half a million readers each month, I’m writing a roundup of spas and spa-like retreats that have unique, quirky, or offbeat offerings or angles. Properties in or near the San Francisco Bay Area are strongly preferred, and locations elsewhere in California are also welcome. I may consider a small number of out-of-state options if they’re within easy travel distance of the Bay Area.
