Prior to starting my career in news and digital management, I had basic knowledge when it came to computers. Six months later, I was proficient in all aspects of website production and management while in a management/department head role. Just after becoming the Digital Media Manager, I created a truly digital first push with our 2021 Founders Day: Fill The Boot Drive. The content I created ended up winning the West Virginia Broadcaster’s Association Award for Best Use of Digital Media in 2022. I was fortunate enough to oversee the “digital first” push for our station which included forming my own digital staff. I have been incredibly fortunate to work where I do with WVNS 59News and Nexstar Media Inc. As a manger and department head, I have learned lessons on how to better be a leader. Even if it had to be learned the hard way, every lesson and every event was taken in and analyzed to benefit myself and the station better for the future. The leadership at WVNS 59News truly took a chance on me and I remember that in everything I do. I small chance or opportunity is all that is necessary to make a difference.
