Claim your profileI am an experienced, highly motivated professional whose work has earned 26 state, regional and national awards, including a first place for sports news in the APSE contest. In addition to having covered nine Finals Fours, countless college football bowls, five Masters, a Stanley Cup Final, a World Series and a Super Bowl, I was courtside for the wins that made both Dean Smith and Mike Krzyzewski the winningest coach in college basketball history, I have proven myself to be equally adept at producing a clean entertaining gamer on deadline from a 9 o’clock basketball game as I am a poignant profile of a teenage athlete fighting an unsuccessful battle against cancer. Most important, I have come to realize that hard work and good journalism are still just as important, if not more so, than ever. Too many bloggers these days have resorted to rehashing the work of others or blindly throwing out rumors to see what sticks. That has helped diminish the credibility of even the most conscientious writers. I believe that the same standards that once existed for the print version of newspapers – developing sources, hard-nosed reporting, making the extra phone call to confirm the all facts – should still exist in their digital form. I also realize the importance of viral marketing and the use of multimedia platforms to increase traffic.
