Claim your profileI'm a scientist turned journalist based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I spent more than a decade spent hiking up mountains in tropical cloud forests to study microbes, soil and climate change. Now I cover the Great Lakes for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Before I came to Wisconsin, I taught science communication, developed workshops and trained scientists on how to engage with the public at the University of Minnesota. As a science writer, I've written for radio, university media, national outlets, local outlets, magazines and paddling brands. My free time is spent outdoors: paddling, hiking, camping and playing with my two dogs. Fun fact: I've lived in every time zone in the continental US.Contact me for writing, editing and scicomm consulting gigs.
