Since 2008, I've been a front-page centerpiece writer and reporter for the Ukiah Daily Journal- Mendocino County's only daily newspaper. I was a features for the Mendocino Travelers Guide, the region's signature travel and tourism magazine from 2006 until its sunset in 2021, and have contributed many long form stories to the Anderson Valley Advertiser, one of the world's last authentic broadsheets. In 2016, I became the Assistant Editor for The Local Green- an adjunct publication of the Mendocino Travelers Guide. We covered cannabis in Mendocino, focusing on the fascinating people who comprise the industry's culture and community.Currently, I'm continuing my freelance work with the Ukiah Daily Journal and several other local newspapers. I'm also the public relations manager for the Kure Wellness family of dispensaries. I'm very proud to be a part of the Kure family, whose owner and CEO is the only dispensary owner in Mendocino County who was born and raised right here in the Emerald Triangle. We created a novel, customer-driven cannabis contest called the Kure Mendocino Invitational, where customers are the voters, weighing in on 28 local, legal cannabis farms, who we interviewed and are currently featured on the MendoFever website.I'm honored to have interviewed many notable individuals including musicians Maria Muldaur and Lukas Nelson, authors Ashley Wolff, Doug Fine, Martin Lee and CD Payne, political activist Norman Solomon, actors Phil Donahue, Shiloh Fernandez and Quinn Van Antwerp, Christian evangelist Rick Warren, winemaker Paul Dolan, John Schaefer, founder of Real Goods, author and spiritual leader don Miguel Ruiz, Jr., Ansley Coale, founder of Craft Distillers, Crispin Cain, co-founder of Greenway Distillers and countless elected officials, businesspeople, innovators and activists. I've had photos published in Rolling Stone and worked with esteemed Guardian/UK journalist Ed Vulliamy. I'm a successful grant writer, have produced operations and personnel manuals, countless public service announcements, advertisements, biographies, publicity campaigns and love letters.For 4 years I was a board member for our county's public access television station. I was a steering committee member for the election of former Congressman Dan Hamburg to the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors.When I realized I'd published over 1,000 stories and about one million words, I stopped counting! My dream? To write biographies of Mendocino County citizens, particularly "back to the landers" and early members of the cannabis community.
