Claim your profileI have been working in Higher Education since 2008, initially at the University of Reading and subsequently at Brunel University London where I am now.Having worked with the SITS student records system for seven years and gaining a broad understanding of the way the many arms of institutions interact with data and with one another, I moved into an academic department, where I now oversee the Education provision of one of three Colleges at Brunel, leading several teams of administrative staff, comprising approximately fifty staff in total. I am responsible for the effective running of student-facing administrative functions as well as the quality of provision. This includes both strategically and operationally overseeing various key functions, such as induction, registration, assessment (and all associated processes), timetabling, accreditation, placements, appeals and complaints, and programme development, as well as advising on complex regulations and quality assurance issues. My key focus is on staff development and empowerment of teams and individuals. I aim to model effective behaviours for my teams at all times. As a student I studied Literature, and this has inspired my love of writing. I have been running a football blog since 2009 which receives a healthy number of unique visits a month, and I have now created a community of 43,000 Twitter followers. I also write for many other platforms.I front The Extra Inch podcast (about Tottenham Hotspur) and am also part of The Fighting Cock podcast collective. The former is proud to have a nerdy and analytical take on Spurs, and is steadily building a devoted fanbase and the latter has led to us creating fanzines, live shows and, once upon a time, a supporters' movement. I also Co-Founded 15 Minutes (With Flav and Windy), a light-hearted conversational podcast with my friend and 'leader' of The Fighting Cock, Flav.I have been asked to appear on the radio (5Live, talkSPORT, SiriusXM Bleacher Report Radio) and on podcasts discussing my beloved Tottenham Hotspur.I love managing a team and enjoy working with people generally - particularly bringing academic and professional staff together. I thrive on working to deadline, and pride myself on strong organisation/prioritisation skills, my attention to detail and an eye for process development/improvement. But my greatest job satisfaction is taken from seeing the development of my colleagues and peers.
