Claim your profileI'm a full-time freelance journalist and photographer, specializing in food, wine and travel writing for newspapers, magazines, online publications and radio. I spend much of my time traveling nationally and internationally to research new destinations, and I'm always looking for new markets and venues for the many food and travel stories that these trips generate. My goal is to continue to raise the bar as one of the country's premiere travel and food writers, and to find new publications around the world to tell Canadian stories. I contribute to a variety of publications and continuously pitch to new markets - my stories have appeared in the Globe and Mail, Maclean's magazine, the Toronto Star, Chatelaine, Canadian Living, Wine Spectator, Wine Access, CBC radio, Canadian Geographic, West magazine, Avenue magazine, Canadian Tourism Commission website, Calgary Herald, Calgary Sun among others. I've written several cookbooks (High Plains, The Girl Can't Cook, The Guy Can't Cook, 225 Best Pressure Cooker Recipes) and my latest, Waste Not, Want Not (TouchWood Editions, 2015) that looks at the global environmental problem of food waste with lots of ideas/tips/recipes to reduce food waste at home. Specialties: Seasoned newspaper and magazine writer Produce concise, entertaining and thought-provoking stories Shoot high quality digital images, especially food photos Great ideas, unique angles, news hooks are my specialty Award-winning cookbook author and recipe developer Ask me anything about any kind of food Lover of nature, passionate people, chefs, fascinating facts, books and stories
